The full range of Brause right hand oblique
nibs is available from us (exclusively, since July 2006). But only in
sets of all the 9 nibs. The sizes are from 0.5mm to 5mm width, allowing the
finest to largest characters to be written for any application.This nib has
a similar shape to the Speedball 'C' series nibs in that it has a right oblique
style of nib tip. To see this, simply hold up a larger sized nib (above 2mm)
and look at the italic cut tip. Notice the end is not square cut, but is angle
cut - downward on the right side. This oblique angle is most helpful when
writing in an upright style, such as Roman or any of the later developed scripts
like Rustika, Uncial, Carolingian, Gothic, Fraktur, or the lower case Roman
Antiqua. Italic can also be done successfully even though slightly slanted,
the pen being held at a 40 degree angle from the writing line.
The reason for the right oblique tip is for upright letter styles that need
horizontal lines in doing the script work, the obliqueness (for right handers
only) allows the horizontal line to be done without twisting the wrist, as
would be necessary if the nib were square cut. 9 sizes of nibs include some
half millimetre sizes starting with 0.5mm then 0.75mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm.
The rest are 3mm, 4mm and the largest 5mm.
