This item is just ideal for anyone travelling and not wanting to carry bottled ink. After all even the slightest leak and the ink gets everywhere. Besides this, the black is a Chinese carbon ink. It will work for brush use, simply dip a brush in water and rub across the dry pan and it will load your brush with painting ink. Or a nib calligrapher can load a nib by rubbing the brush edge off on the side of the upturned nib.
