Range Of Nibs
Hiro produce nibs in Europe and are largely unknown in Australia. The main brands like William Mitchell & Speedball are the most popular - however, they don't make anything like these broad to extra broad POSTER NIBS.
The Hiro company range of nibs is as large as the Mitchell/Rexel/Gillott ranges put together. The nibs are available as Italic square cut, Copperplate & Mapping types, and also the POSTER range...
By Poster nibs are meant, nibs that are used for large display posters. They are therfore broader than the standard Italic/Roundhand sizes, so they start at about 4mm upward to 15mm. They are made from a Brass like metal, similar in appearance to the Coit brand American nibs. The tips are a folded style, with the reservoir built in, and the socket/handle end can fit a standard pen holder (any of the popular brands will do),
More detailed information
The Poster/broad style of the tip; These nibs have the same shaped tip throughout the range, and it is just a straight edge, there is no twin or triple line tipped nib in this series. Other types like Automatic pens or the previously mentioned Coit range, do have these split tipped nibs, and the straight edged ones also. Both these brands have fixed unremovable handles and as such are expensive to buy.
The exact Hiro Poster sizes are:
4mm, 5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 15mm, all these are marketed by us (holder extra)...
P.S Another extraordinary Hiro nib is the Cutting nib, used by gilders to trim gold layed on a page, it also fits a standard holder.
