Broad and Split pen range
The English Automatic pen brand is one of our special ranges of extra broad dip pens. There are 13 different sizes, of which 5 are split tipped pens, having double or more writing lines.
Alternately some other brands of broad tip pens and
nibs are available;

As you can see these pens start at the very small tipped 1/16", this nib and a few others of the smaller sizes are similar to other brands of nibs on the market.
(Notably: William Mitchell, Speedball, Brause etc)
These smaller sizes produce letter writing sizes of calligraphy. However after 3/16" size, or around 4.5mm or 5mm wide tips, the other brand sizes run out as they only come in sizes from 0.5mm up to 5mm.
So the 1/4" is the first of the real broad tips, and this size is expanded in all the later 4 sizes, right up to the broadest at 1" (or approximately 25mm).
The second range of Automatic pen available is the split tipped sizes No.7, 8, 9, 10. These go up to 1/2" (or around 12.5mm). Lastly the fanciest nib tip is the Music or 5 line tip. It produces 5 lines of ink in 1 stroke and can be used for the ruled lines on music sheets, but calligraphers design lettering with it for an extra special look.
