The Illuminated Alphabet

The Farnese Hours

The original copy is in the Pierpont Morgan Library, New York.
Completed in Rome in 1546 for Alesandro Cardinal Farnese. A book
of private devotions, its illuminated content was known as the
best quality miniature painting. The 26 colour miniature paintings
taking a whole page each are arranged in pairs in this book,
as in the original. As well as many page edge panels also having

The original copy is in the J. Paul Getty Museum, Malibu. Dated
