Chinese brushes make excellent ceramic painting brushes. Of the range of 7 we show below, 6 of these are Chinese painting brushes. The unique factor of them is the types of hair, this means that among the round pointed brushes pictured, each will be used to achieve different painted results - dependant on the hair type and the brush size.

From the left side we have;
The 2 inch flat wide and very soft goathair
, this is only one of the widths available and they go from 1/2 inch up to 5 inch. This 2 inch size is the one you would find most useful as a wash brush, to cover larger areas with the same colour, or for very wide banding. Soft goathair carries a lot more liquid/paint than any other hairtype. This is one of the Background Staining series of brushes. AUD$9.00 each.

Brush No.2 from the left is a Horsehair and is the largest of the round pointed brushes. Coarse strokes are possible with this semi stiff hairtype. Odd and broken shapes will be the kind of use you will have for the brushstrokes it makes. Called "Golden Purple", it comes in a number of other sizes - this is number 3 size. AUD$8.50 each.

Brush No.3
from the left is a large round pointed shape goat hair brush. This brush can paint wide straight lines or any kind of non-sharp type of strokes, say like leaves or small wash areas. The liquid/paint held by goathair is excelent. The brush is a No.3 size standard goathair type. AUD$6.70 each.

Brush No.4 from the left is a special mixed hair brush called large "Bat Wan" or White Cloud in English. The hair is goat on the outside and wolf or squirrel on the inside. This mixed blend of hair allows the brush to hold lots of paint and also be well controlled for semi fine work. AUD$9.10 each.

Brush No.5 is a wolf hair fine line brush with a fairly medium/large size, called "San Sui" or General Landscape brush. a really good general pupose brush with excellent controll in the springy brown wolf hair. Brush No.6 is a smaller size of wolf hair called large "Kwui" or fine liner. This won't hold much paint but can do dot style or fine line work, Like veins on leaves, eyes on figures etc. AUD$5.30 each.
