Create your own DECKLE EDGES on any card or paper with our latest craft tools. A stainless steel rule over 300mm long it has no measurements on it but is used to tear a natural deckle. As shown
in the picture (left), the deckle finish can be applied to papers
and cards with weights from 100gsm (like photocopy paper), up
to a weight of 300gsm, (the picture shows Fabrianos hot
pressed watercolour paper). |

We now
sell 2x types of edge on this rule. One has a slightly Rougher
edge, the other has a slightly Finer edge. So now you can choose
the type of deckled edge that will suit your work best. To use this attractive design feature on your cards and papers, we suggest that you dont use deckled edges on every edge but just on one or two. This adds the natural look without overdoing it. See the business card in the above pictures bottom right corner. Or in the case of a folding card like a Christmas card just deckle the front edge, for a pretty finish to the whole card. |

Tearing with the rule is easy. With a flat tabletop place your paper/card in front of you on the table. Position the deckle rule above the area to be torn, press down firmly and begin the tear. As the tearing passes beyond your hands width, stop the tear carefully making sure you dont move the position of the rule on the paper/card. Move the hand on the rule further down to a new position by the untorn paper/card, and pressing firmly, begin tearing again until the deckle is completed. |
