Hiro-Leonardt Nibs

THE HIRO-LEONARDT RANGE OF NIBS
This European range of nibs is not well known in Australia, as there has not been a distributor for a while. Nowadays however the range is well represented and we stock a broad number of the extensive range of Hiro nibs at the shop. Recently they released a new nib for Copperplate Calligraphers called the PRINCIPAL nib. It has a look that is similar to the American Hunt 101, its handling is just as good, if not better though. See the other nibs we carry with the Hiro name below.

Hiro 70 right hand oblique TAPE reservoired nibs
A range of spring steel Italic nibs having a right oblique tip in all sizes.

Each nib is numbered for size in millimetres, starting at 1/2mm, then 1, 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2, 3 and 4.

The nibs have the right oblique tip making them ideal for any upright style like Gothic or Uncial, but they will write all of the other styles involving broad - square cut nibs, like Roman and Italic along with their derived other letterforms.

Cost each is AUD$4.20.

Hiro Round nibs in Gilt or Nickel
A range of Italic nibs having a right oblique tip in all sizes.

Each nib is numbered for size, starting at 1, then 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2, 3, 3 1/2, 4, 5 and 6. The actual sizes go from .5mm up to 3mm, the nib number 1 being the biggest, number 6 the smallest.

These are available in two finishes, either silvered with Nickel or gilded with Gilt.

The nibs having the right oblique tip makes them the ideal candidate for any upright style like Gothic or Uncial, but they will write all of the other styles involving broad - square cut nibs, like Roman and Italic along with their derived other letterforms.

Cost each is AUD$3.00.


The FINGER nib, or rather the INDEX nib.
This is a decorative nib used as a writing/general purpose nib. The novel design is available in Gilt, Nickel, or Bronze.

The cost for a Gilt nib is AUD$4.80 each. The Silver and Bronze versions are AUD$3.60 each.


HIRO GENERAL SELECTION NIBS
7 different Hiro nibs are in this group.

The Hiro 40, a blue spring steel nib for handwriting is excellent as a Copperplaters nib. It has a soft to medium spring to it. Cost
AUD$3.10 each.

The Hiro 700 is designed as drawing or sketching nib but functions well as a Copperplaters nib, especially for small size well controlled letters. It has a hard and smooth spring action. Cost
AUD$2.65 each.

The Hiro 6h looks similar to the 700 but is harder tipped, this nib functions best for drawing or sketching. Cost AUD$2.65 each.

The NEWLY designed Hiro Principal EF nib, is made for Copperplate use and does it well. The nib has a medium tension springiness. Cost AUD$6.25 each.

The Hiro Lithograph No.7 nib is an extra fine hard tipped drawing or sketching nib. Cost AUD$3.95 each.

The Hiro Relief No.55 nib has a left oblique tip, this is used by left handed calligraphers to correct their writing angle. The nib is nickel coated and has an 0.8mm fine italic tip. Cost AUD$2.00 each.

Hiro Scraperboard blade tip is used by scraperboard picture makers, The blade is quite sharp, and could be used for any craft that needs a sharp edged tip. Cost AUD$3.95 each.

Hiro Poster nibs. This range is for a broader sizes of nib than any of the above. They start at 4mm wide and go up to 15mm maximum. Made from brass, with a rolled style of tip - this is were the brass is bent under the nib, to provide the nib edge for writing with. Cost is AUD$3.95 each.
