Traditional Japanese gilt edged Painting boards
are available from Will's Quills and have been for many years. This little known beautiful board, with its various painting finishes and delicate designed edges, comes in a number of sizes - ideal for small paintings, poems or stanza's.

Your Eastern or Western artwork only needs to be painted or drawn on these exquisite cards, then the whole work is finished - ready for presentation or framing - these quality and artful Japanese cards are that good. Your work only needs sealing/signing to make the job complete. |
The painting surface is generally white painting paper, with its fine lined watermark effect, similar to Chinese Hsien painting paper. In fact only 1x of the selection on offer here has a cream painting surface.
The complete range of card sizes have similar edges and back sides. The edges are finished in a few millimetres wide strip of gold foil, giving the work a "complete/framed look". Also the backs of the cards have a cream colour with silver flecks across the surface. They look just as good from the back, as the front, Calligraphy work could just as easily be done on this side. Prices are shown below.

Classical Cards in a Modern world
Pastel tinted - coloured cards are shown in this section. These are modern adaptions of the traditional painting cards shown above. Three shades are pictured, Mauve tinted edges with large random hearts design, Blue tinted edges with random circles design, Orange tinted edge with random bow ties design.
Two other designs are available, (not shown in the pictures), these are, Mauve tinted edges with small random hearts design and Pink tinted edges with random floral design. All designs have the similar pastel shades. Prices are shown below.

Chinese Calligraphy or Painting work

We offer a Chinese calligraphy service for anyone needing specific characters to be painted on a card. The initial calligraphy charge is AUD$38.50, the pricing can be quoted for larger stanzas, poetry etc, or like this work by our seal carver (pictured on the left).
