The Artist Shen Mo


SHEN MO, A BRIEF ABSTRACT

Shen Mo, alias Mozi, born in February 1957 in KunShan City of JiangSu province in China. He graduated from the Artistic School of NangJing, majoring in traditional Chinese painting in 1980. He is ranked as 1st Class National Artist in China (Natioal Proffessor level). He is also a member of a number of other artists associations, and is head of the Dean of the South - Yangtze River painting School.

His chidhood painting experience is influenced by famous artists, YaiMing, DaYu Chen and Professor WenJun Zhang. Also he studied the works of ShiTao, BaoHong Huang and other elder masters in the painting skills.

Shen Mo is well versed in the Chinese traditional painting and his works show the scenery from the water villages of the south Yangtze river area, using his unique art style.

He immigrated to Australia in the early 90's and has launched many painting exhibitions of his work over the years since, in many countries. These include Australia (Sydney & Melbourne), Canada, Singapore, Japan, France, USA and Taiwan. Four books have been published of his works.

Currently two of his painted art works have been included in the permanent collection of Parliament House, in Sydney.

This shows off the traditional painting style and the use of modern background techniques to illustrate the surrounding scenery areas. Very inspirational to see and a worthwhile book that preserves the old and adds the new, in each picture.

"Jiangnan-Color upon ink". The latest book from Shen Mo. Written in English and Chinese, so that westerners can benefit as well as Chinese. This book expands on the painting shown in South Jiang Zhi River Scenery (above). 48 full colour paintings are included in this book. More use of colour is apparent in the pictures modern backgroung painting techniques, this make the viewing of each picture a visual pleasure to the eye.
