The Rotring Universal Compass Adaptor allows pens and pencils to be fitted to compasses. It has special features as follows;

First feature: This adaptor has a screw tightened fitting for any size or type of writing tool. It can take the ink loaded technical pens (our picture has a Kern fine tech' pen, fitted to a Jasco bow compass), It can also accomodate an INK RULING PEN, a FINE LINE MARKER, a PENCIL, or even a BIRO if you wish.

Second feature: As the title says, its a Universal compass set. This means there are 2x different fittings that change the pen adaptor, to fit different brands of compass. The actual sizes of the stainless steel fitting that slide into your compass are;

Here is a SPECIAL that is a rarity.

The "PYSANKA PEN" or FLUID WRITER PEN, also called a "DOTTER PEN", has a fixed metal handle with a few accessories in the bubble pack set. It uses inks, watercolours, or acrylic to be loaded into the small cone at the top end of the nib. The nib itself is a tube style round tip, with a resulting size of writing or dots, of about 1mm .

The pens ink flow is by gravity, and the refill cone is refilled by using a pipette or eye dropper filled with ink.

In the case that the ink dries and blocks the the tube, a cleaning wire is supplied with the pen. Both the pens tip and the cleaning wire have plastic caps to help protect them when not in use.

This pen/tool sells for AUD$14.60 each.

OLD TIME POTTERY INK POTS.
Ink from our bygone days was sold in these pottery pots. Pre-mixed black and ready to go, with a sealed top.

The pots spout has a pouring slot to dispense the ink to a smaller open neck desktop jar, for access with a dipping nib.

The labels are long gone from these glazed ceramic jars, but some of them have the brands stamped into the wet clay, before placing in the kiln.

Use these for ink, home made or otherwise. Or just as decoration for a writing desk. If you need props for a movie, these would fill the bill.

A number of other accessories will fit the scriber-writing tool. This means as it glides in the lettering slots to write letters, other tools can be used to write lettering using these same templates. See the next picture for an enlargement.

This marker pen can show the acidic content of papers, cards and stationery, also it works on stickers, textile products, doilies, gessoed canvas.

To use it, simply mark a test strip on the back side or concealed area. Wait a few seconds so that the ink & paper etc react, if the ink stays blue, then there is alkaline in the material, (this is considered acceptable, and acid free, but not in terms of longevity). If the ink turns yellow, then it is high in acidity. The ideal ink shade is when its colour is a mid-green, then it is considered good, being between the 2x extremes.
