Round Hand / Italic Nibs

The classic tools of calligraphy for all types of edged pen lettering, including Foundational, Italic, Gothic and Roman.

Two versions are available – square cut for right handed users and left oblique for left handed users and Arabic lettering.

A BRASS RESERVOIR fits underneath these nibs, allowing extra ink to be used for writing - per dip.

Scroll Nibs

Double edged pens for creating interesting double line effects and decorative borders. Available in 6 different patterns.

Nib 60 has the left side nib extra broad and nib 10 has the right side nib extra board. See the lower picture on the left, for actual ink written samples, using each nib size.…

Poster Nibs

Large broad edged pens for poster and display lettering, slightly canted to the left with an upturned edge for easier use on textured surfaces. An integral ink reservoir enables longer, uninterrupted use. Available in 8 widths of point. Nib widths are approximately as follows:

L13=2.5mm, L14=3.5mm, L15=4.5mm, L16=5.5mm, L17=6.5mm, L18=8mm, L19=9mm, L20=10mm

Script Nibs

Round upturned points for monoline or unshaded lettering. Equipped with a top-mounted reservoir for full, even ink flow on virtually any type of paper. Especially useful for writing skeletal letters in any style. These nibs come in sizes from 5 down to 1/2, with 10x nibs in the set.

Copperplate Nibs

A very fine and responsive elbow oblique pen, in one size only, for traditional copperplate writing.

For right handed users only. Lefties can use other straight nibs i.e Gillott 303 or 404 for instance (see below).

Some Gillott Mapping, Drawing Nibs

Gillott company is wholly owned by William Mitchell, but has continued to manufacture the nibs at their factory and use the original names and numbers. The selection here is just 5x of the whole range. They are priced cheaply, for an Aussie dollar or two. The smaller tipped nibs like the model 659, require a special miniature handle. The rest however fit in the standard brands of nib handle, that also takes those nibs shown above.

The Gillott 303 nib is one of the most popular copperplate nibs sold at our shop, especially since Jean Larcher visited Australia a few years ago. This is his nib of choice.
