These classes are for beginner to intermediate Copperplate calligraphers

Classes: 8 lessons, Tuesday 7th Feb – Tuesday 27th Mar 2012
Day Class: 1pm to 3pm
Night Class: 6.30pm to 8.30pm
Term Fees: $160 for the 8 lessons

The aim of each lesson, is to complete a small project in class, using various methods and media.

You will design and complete, announcements, place cards, greeting cards and small invitations and Menus. Different weights of flourished pinted pen written Copperplate will be developed, with the aim to master the Copperplate script.

Metallic inks and Walnut ink will be the main media used.

The aim is to introduce students to the finer details of the beautiful Copperplate calligraphic hand, which is the most useful hand for both individual and commercial work.
A series of handouts will be given at each lesson, as well as linesheets.

The course is designed for students who are beginners to those with some experience who wish to perfect the copperplate hand.

Materials list: Tachikawa T-25 straight pen holder. Zebra G nib, 2 xbottles of Walnut ink.,
A4 bank paper pad.
Other materials will be given out when needed.
# The teacher will supply the (above) listed materials, & extra nibs, plus 2 bottles of metallic ink at a cost of $20.00. Students will need a good clutch/retractible pencil, ruler, eraser, eraser brush, and a fine & medium pointed black texta.

Access to the class above Will's Quills, is off Victoria Avenue into Lawrence Street, then turn first right behind the shops.The last set of stairs at the end of this back access is the entry to the classroom. The shop on Victoria Avenue, also gains entry to the classroom. See a map of the area, click here. If attending for the day class, you gain entrance to the studio via the shop.
Book Binding Workshop $120.00 per person Full Day Workshop.

"It is the overwhelming sense of satisfaction one feels when they take a book
out of a book press. A book where-by they decided upon the colour and design,
folded the pages, sewed the signatures, cut the board, glued and pressed the
project of mere board, paper, glue, thread and cloth that makes bookbinding
a spiritual and romantic journey."

This is a 16 signature codex bookbinding workshop. Hand sewn, hard cover,
(cloth spine and decorative paper –exterior).
Journal and Artee Books Workshop
$120.00 per person Full Day Workshop.

This is a workshop where two books are completed; one is a concertina book perfect
for journaling and photos the other book is a stab binding (tied) book
also for journaling, and for keepsake treasures.

Please bring your lunch and snacks. coffee, tea biscuits will be provided.
(otherwise their will be a brief lunch break if you want to go out to buy something in Chatswood.)

Materials needed:1 x set square
1 x steel ruler
1 x Stanley Knife
1 x Pencil
1 x Pen
1 x Note paper
1 x Bone folder
1 x Small flat brush for glue
1 x Scissors
2 x C-clamps

If you are unable to bring all the above items from home there will be some to share on the day on the workshop. All other items and materials will be supplied for the courses.

Items you may want to bring with you;
- Bits of paper off cuts for decoration
- Decorative items trinkets
- Leaves, bark, dried flowers, sticks etc..

Please turn up at 9.00am on the day and go straight up to level 2 of Wills Quills.
